520 _a"This book acquaints students with the nature and language of mathematics. It has 9 chapters which are independent of each other. Chapter 1 explores the nature and characteristics of mathematics, the language and symbols used in mathematics, and inductive and deductive reasoning to predict patterns. It also investigates mathematical patterns found in nature. Chapter 2 presents the basic concepts of logic and the various rules of inferences and replacements necessary to prove the validity of arguments.
