"Introduction to Qualitative Research: Handbook- Worktext on Practical Research 1 guides learners through the step-by-step process of writing an academic qualitative research paper. It enables them to develop higher order thinking (HOT) workplace employability skills such as system thinking, problem-solving, and ICT skills as they design the method of data collection, analyses, and interpretations to draw out relevant implications and recommended course of actions. The first unit, which is composed of three lessons, discusses the meaning and nature of qualitative research and its research process, including the research problem and the procedures and techniques of library research. This includes, but not limited to note taking, direct and indirect quotations as well as in-text and end of text citations using standard referencing styles. The second unit of four lessons explains the dynamics of qualitative research designs and data collection methods through survey, focus group discussion, interview; and the rigors of instrument development, sampling techniques, sample size, codifications and analyses of primary data are also explicated. Further, this unit elucidates on the scholarly concepts of mixed designs and data triangulation. Finally, the third unit of two lessons demonstrates how an academic research paper is developed section by section through guided writing utilizing linguistic prompts and/or annotation. Self-directed peer review and evaluation sheets including OBE-based competency rubrics are also appended"-- Back cover.
