Summary: A Course Module for Content and Pedagogy for the Mother Tongue is a self-instructional learning material that will help Bachelor of Elementary Education students understand comprehensively the Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education program being implemented in the Philippines. It is designed in a way that future elementary school teachers would be equipped with the pedagogical knowledge and skills that would enable them to teach mother tongue as a learning area. This module is highly activity-based, where students are expected to develop instructional plans for the mother tongue with sound, interesting and meaningful learning experiences, age-appropriate and culturally relevant materials, and robust assessments. At the end of the module, the students are expected to apply their acquired knowledge and skills in teaching mother tongue through a demonstration teaching.
